Some Common Misconceptions About Foot Pain:

You can't do anything for a broken toe A broken toe is a fractured bone.     If not set, the toe may heal deformed and later cause pain or problems
Gout is caused by eating rich foods     Gout is an imbalance of uric acid in the bloodstream, which can be exacerbated by a purine-rich diet. A podiatrist can provide immediate gout relief.
Corns are caused by tight shoes     While a tight shoe may rub on a toe, causing a corn, the toe is usually bent (hammer toe). This is a biomechanical condition, and can be treated surgically.
Infected ingrown nails must be treated with oral antibiotics     While antibiotics may be needed, the infected ingrown nail will usually not heal unless the offending nail spicule is removed.
